
Typically, I listen to a podcast to help put me to sleep. I find that it stops my mind from racing thoughts because I’m focused on the words being spoken. I typically play podcasts on topics that really don’t interest me.
Else, what could happen is I get so engrossed in the podcast, that I don’t fall asleep. And this is what happened to me when I listened to Rachel Hollis’ podcast the other night, episode 275: Make Major Moves in the Next 3 Months. Both the link to the Spotify podcast and YouTube podcast are included below.
Rachel gives her listeners a four-step process to make traction in being a better version of themselves over the next three months. The podcast mainly focus’ on the theory (and my personal belief) that you are in control of you, even when you don’t think you are; you are the creator of your life. You decide your next reaction; you decide what thoughts you will continue to allow in your head.
The goal of the podcast is to help you get the right work done by looking at where you are today and what needs to change so you can appropriately allocate your resources to what matters most—focusing on what matters most versus wasting time/energy on things that really don’t matter.
In a nutshell, the four-step process to Make Major Moves in the Next 3 Months is:
First, determine where you are now; this is your starting point. Rachel suggests to review the activities you did over last three months; this will tell you where you are spending your time and energy.
Second, look at what you’ve done in the last three months and reflect on these two questions—What activities made you feel good; What activities helped you get closer to the person you want to be (or your goal). Note, the answers can be polar opposites.
Third, reflect on what stopped you doing the things that needed to get done, but didn’t (what threw you off your path) and reflect on what can be done to lessen or avoid them going forward.
Lastly, determine what you want to focus on/create over the next 3 months and work towards that goal.
The podcast is approximately 1 hour long. I strongly recommend you listen to it in it’s entirety—you will find it motivating. Leaving you with two of my favorite quotes from the podcast:
