I’ve seen several articles around defining your values. The articles all appear to be saying the same thing: Values are the way you live/work and when your actions align to your values, you feel good.
These articles typically come with an alphabetical listing of 100+ words, which was a bit overwhelming…until I came across Jennifer’s Simply + Fiercely article (linked below). Her values included creativity and freedom. Never in a million years would I have selected those values, yet that is what I crave.
I went back to those 100+ values listings with a new set of eyes—which values will positively impact my happiness now? What do I want more in my life now? And that, my friends, was easy. I want:
One. Freedom of time to do things I enjoy
Two. Live a life true to myself, not the life others expect of me
Three. New adventures
Four. Creativity / Using my hands to make things (or food)
